Set your oven to 350°F and let it warm up. Coat a square baking dish with butter or spray it with cooking oil so nothing sticks.

Dump the lemon filling into the greased dish. Smooth it out so it completely covers the bottom, including the edges.

Add half of the cake mix on top of the lemon filling, sprinkling it evenly. Spread the cream cheese cubes over this layer. Follow up by covering with the rest of the cake mix.

Place the butter slices across the cake mix, slightly overlapping them. This helps everything bake evenly on top.

Pop the dish into the oven and bake for 35-40 minutes. It’s done when you poke the center with a toothpick and it comes out clean.
