Chocolate Croissant Bake (Print-Friendly Version)

Croissants soaked in creamy custard with gooey chocolate for a warm and tasty breakfast treat.

# Ingredients List:

→ Bakery

01 - Cut five big croissants (a bit stale is best) into chunks about an inch wide

→ Chocolate

02 - Semi-sweet chocolate chips, about one cup

→ Dairy & Eggs

03 - Four large eggs
04 - Two cups of whole milk

→ Sweetener & Flavoring

05 - A pinch of salt, roughly a quarter teaspoon
06 - One tablespoon of sugar
07 - A teaspoon of vanilla extract

→ Garnish

08 - Dust with powdered sugar
09 - Top with whipped cream or fresh berries when ready to eat

# Detailed Cooking Steps:

01 - Turn your oven on to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch pan lightly.
02 - Scatter the croissant bits all over the dish. Sprinkle chocolate chips so they’re inside and on top.
03 - In a big bowl, beat together eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
04 - Gently pour the egg mixture on top of the croissants. Press down a bit so the custard soaks in.
05 - Wait about 10 to 15 minutes to let bread soak up all the custard goodness.
06 - Put it in the oven without covering. Cook for 45 to 50 minutes until golden on top and set inside. If it’s browning too fast, cover lightly with foil for the last part.
07 - Let it cool a bit before sprinkling powdered sugar. Serve warm with berries or whipped cream if you like.

# Helpful Hints:

01 - Using croissants that are a day old helps keep it from getting too soggy. Swap out milk for cream if you want it richer. Put foil on top toward the end to stop it from getting too brown.
