Toss water and sugar in a pan. Warm over medium heat, let it gently bubble until the sugar’s gone. Take it off the heat. Drop in basil, cover it, and leave it alone for 10 minutes. Once it’s cool, strain it and chill in the fridge.

Put your blueberries in the bottom of a big cocktail shaker. Grab that muddler and smash them up good.

Pour in basil syrup, lime juice, and one cup of ice to the shaker. Close it tight and shake hard for about 15 seconds.

Strain straight into a glass already loaded with your leftover ice. Top it up with your grapefruit sparkling water.

Pop a lime wedge and a sprig of basil on top if you want. Down it right away.
