Chop broccoli into even pieces. Don’t forget to peel off the tough skin on the stems if you need to.

Let the olive oil warm up in your skillet over medium-high. Toss in garlic and red pepper flakes, then give it a stir or a shake. You want them to get fragrant, just a few seconds in the hot oil does the trick.

Pop those broccoli pieces into the pan, sprinkle in a good amount of salt, and mix it up well.

Add the water, put the lid on, then lower the heat to medium-low. A gentle shake or stir helps spread the heat around.

Let it steam for 15–20 minutes till the broccoli’s soft and bright green. Taste and salt again if you want.
