Spicy Tso Wings (Print-Friendly Version)

Crunchy chicken wings covered in a tasty, spicy Tso glaze that’s sweet and just a bit spicy.

# Ingredients List:

→ Chicken Wings

01 - 1.5 to 1.8 kg chicken wings, split into drumettes and flats, tips trimmed off

→ Coating

02 - Spray oil for wings
03 - 60 ml cornstarch

→ Tso-Style Sauce

04 - 120 ml honey
05 - 30 ml tomato paste
06 - 3 cloves garlic, finely chopped
07 - 60 ml plain rice vinegar
08 - 10 g fresh ginger, grated
09 - 120 ml low sodium soy sauce
10 - 30 ml Sriracha hot sauce

# Detailed Cooking Steps:

01 - Sprinkle cornstarch over the wings for that crispy finish.
02 - Place wings flat in the air fryer basket and spray lightly with oil. Cook at 182°C for 13 minutes. Flip them and cook at 175°C for another 12 minutes. Times depend on your machine.
03 - Set oven to 200°C. Put parchment or foil on a baking tray, lay wings in one layer, spray with oil, and bake for about 30 minutes until they're crispy.
04 - Heat oil to 180°C and fry wings for about 8 minutes until golden and done all the way through.
05 - Mix honey, Sriracha, tomato paste, soy sauce, garlic, ginger, and rice vinegar in a small pan. Let it simmer on medium for 8 to 10 minutes until it thickens enough to coat a wooden spoon.
06 - Put the cooked warm wings in a big bowl. Pour sauce over and mix well so every wing gets coated.

# Helpful Hints:

01 - Change the Sriracha amount to get the spice level you like. Going for low-salt soy sauce keeps things from getting too salty. Cook wings however you like – air fryer, oven, or deep fry works fine.
