Set the oven to 400°F and coat a glass pie dish (9-inch) with oil.

In a skillet over medium heat, add oil and cook the diced onion for around 3 minutes until soft.

Crumble the beef into the pan with the onions and cook for about 10 minutes until it turns brown. Remove excess fat and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder (if using).

Place the beef mixture evenly in the oiled pie dish. Top it with the shredded Cheddar cheese.

In a mixing bowl, beat together the Bisquick (or flour), milk, and eggs until smooth. Carefully pour this over the beef and cheese layers.
