Set your oven to 190°C. Line a 23x33 cm pan with parchment paper.

In a big bowl, combine sugar, melted butter, vanilla flavor, and salt. Stir it up well.

Add flour to the butter mix and stir until crumbly. Save about two-thirds of this. Press that saved part firmly on the bottom of your lined pan.

In another bowl, toss apple slices with cinnamon and nutmeg so they're all coated.

Spread the spiced apples over the crust layer. Pour the salted caramel sauce evenly on top.

Sprinkle the rest of the flour mixture over the apples and caramel to finish the crust.

Put the pan in the oven and bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Look for a nice golden top and soft apples.

Let the bars cool fully in the pan. Then slice into 16 pieces.
